Edward Desmond Bewley McCarthy

Admiral SIR Edward Desmond Bewley McCarthy, D.S.O.*, C.B. , K.C.B. (15 November, 1893 – 8 June, 1966) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1916.

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1924.

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1935.

World War II

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 7 July, 1944.

McCarthy was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 September, 1948. He retired on 15 December, 1950. He was promoted to Admiral on the Retired List on 15 March, 1952.
