U.S.S. Sharkey was one of one hundred and fifty-six Clemson Class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.
She was named for Lt. j.g. William J. Sharkey (I am unable to discover his middle name), who died in an explosion aboard submarine O-5 late in 1918.
Service
Sharkey was commissioned on 28 November, 1919 with Commander Edward D. Washburn, Jr. in command.
