H.M.S. Greyhound was one of forty "C" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".
Construction & Service
In late 1905, she was one of eight destroyers in the Second Division of the Channel Fleet's Destroyer Flotilla.[8]
In March 1910, she was one of eighteen destroyers of the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla, which was itself part of the Third Division, Home Fleet.
By April 1912, she was one of 23 destroyers with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla, a Patrol Flotilla based at Portsmouth. She fought with them through most of the war after the flotilla became a component of the Dover Patrol before leaving to join the Seventh Destroyer Flotilla in April, 1918. The Seventh operated as part of the East Coast Forces, based in the Humber. Greyhound was paid off in August, but remained attached to the flotilla until February 1919.
