Vice-Admiral (retired) Robert Gordon Douglas Dewar, R.N. (6 December, 1874 – 24 August, 1948) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Dewar was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1896.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1907.[2]

He was appointed in command of Ganges II on 24 February, 1911. Castigated for prosecuting a Court Martial at Shotley badly in 1911, Dewar was superseded on 10 May, 1912.[3]

Dewar was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1913.[4]

Great War

Dewar was appointed command of the second class protected cruiser Venus on 1 August, 1914.[5]

He was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Berwick on 22 October, 1918.[6]

Post-War

Dewar was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 August, 1924 and was placed on the Retired List the following day.[7]

Dewar was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 26 May, 1929.[8]
