H.M.S. Haughty was one of forty-two "A" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "27 knotter".
She was broken up before the war.
Service
Haughty replaced Janus in the Medway Instructional Flotilla in mid-July, 1898,[6] but after about one week returned to Sheerness with her machinery disabled. She was towed down to Chatham by the dockyard tug Grinder.[7]
Haughty was one of seventeen destroyers of the Reserve Division which left Sheerness on 1 July, 1905 for Spithead under the overall command of Commander R. G. Gregory in H.M.S. Spitfire.[8]
She and sixteen other destroyers of the Reserve Division arrived at Sheerness on 13 July 1905 and proceeded to Chatham.[9]
