H.M.S. Ariel was one of the Royal Navy's eleven "D" class destroyers.

Service

In commission with the Mediterranean Fleet in December 1905 and January, 1907.[7][8]

The destroyer was wrecked and lost in a night attack exercise on 19 April, 1907. Lieutenant Lancelot Napier Turton was faulted for taking unjustified risks that precipitated the calamity and he was not to be appointed to another destroyer in consequence.[9]
