Service

Commissioned at Portsmouth on 31 October, 1910. In early 1913, she was attached to the Third Battle Squadron, but was ordered to join the Second Light Cruiser Squadron in mid-1913.

The cruiser was recommissioned at Sheerness 15 October, 1913.

In late 1915, Weymouth was transferred to the Adriatic.

She was transferred back to the Second Light Cruiser Squadron around November, 1916, but left for the Sixth Light Cruiser Squadron before the end of the year. Initially, she was the only ship in the formation.

Recommissioned at Malta on 24 March, 1920.

She was reduced to Reserve Complement on 18 December, 1925.

On 1 April, 1927, Captain Gerard Aylmer Wells transferred to H.M.S. Dartmouth and Weymouth was re-commissioned under the command of Commander Astley Dundas Cooper Cooper-Key.

Alterations

Weymouth was fitted with a director in June, 1917. This alteration required her pole mast to be replaced with a tripod mast for greater rigidity.
