H.M.S. Lychnis was one of twelve Aubrietia Class convoy sloops completed for the Royal Navy.
In 1921, she was transferred to the Royal Indian Marine, then becoming H.M.I.S. Cornwallis.
Service
On 17 June, 1918 while operating between Sardinia and Sicily under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Cyril John Laugham Noakes, Lychnis forced U 64 to the surface by depth charging her. The submarine was destroyed by gunfire.
