Captain John Behling Azer, (24 November, 1906 – 27 March, 1999) served in the United States Navy.

Life & Career

Azer was born in Illinois and graduated from the Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 1930. After varied service ashore and afloat in the 1930's, during World War II he commanded a number of submarines, including R-19, Whale, and Caiman. Immediately after the war, he commanded submarine tender Howard S. Gilmore. His career continued after the war, and he eventually retired as a Captain.
