H.M.S. P38 was one of forty-four "P" class patrol boats built for the Royal Navy. In 1925, she was renamed Spey, the only "P" boat to be given a name.
Service
In June, 1917, P38 was one of eight "P" boats in the Portsmouth Escort Flotilla.[5]
P38 was re-commissioned at Portland on 7 October, 1920.[6]
In March, 1925, she was operating with the Fishery Protection Flotilla under her new name, H.M.S. Spey.[7]
