Vice-Admiral Richard Hyde, C.B., C.B.E., M.V.O., Royal Navy (9 October, 1872 – 26 November, 1931) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hyde was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1894.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1905.[2]
Hyde was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1912.[3]
In August 1912, he assumed command of the second class protected cruiser Talbot.
He was appointed command of the destroyer Blanche on 5 July, 1913.[4]
He was made captain of the armoured cruiser Essex in May 1916, staying until September.
Hyde was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 24 July, 1922 and placed on the Retired List by his own request the next day.[5]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 14 January, 1928.[6]
Hyde committed suicide "while of unsound mind" on 26 November, 1931.[7]
