Vice-Admiral (retired) Morris Henry Smyth, C.B.E., R.N. (24 September, 1853 – 15 January, 1940) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Smyth was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 28 December, 1877.
Smyth was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1893.
Smyth was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1899.
Smyth was appointed in command of Research from 14 March, 1904 to 22 March, 1908.
Smyth was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 24 September, 1908 was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 5 November, 1908.
Smyth was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral (retired) on 25 April, 1914.
Smyth offered his services as a Captain R.N.R. in mid-April, 1915. On 19 October 1916, he was appointed in command of the hired yacht Safa el Bahr.
On 11 November 1917 he was appointed in command of the yacht Iolanda.
