Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Frank Collins Marston, R.N. (14 December, 1867 – 1 December, 1948) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Marston's birth date was first, wrongly, recorded as 14 March, 1867.
Marston was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 8 February, 1896. In August 1897 following a Court-Martial for hazarding Thrasher, Marston was reprimanded and dismissed the ship.
Marston was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 89 on 9 March, 1912[1] and was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 April, 1912.
He served in Eclipse early in the war before spending three months in command of a T.B. in 1915. In mid-June 1915, he was appointed to join the monitor M.20. He stayed with her until being appointed to duty ashore in Alexandria in mid-Jacnuary 1918. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 May, 1918 and remained in the monitor until March, 1919.
Marston commanded the coastguard vessel Cuckoo (formerly Hawk) from 25 March, 1919 to 30 April, 1920.
Marston was appointed in command of Flintshire on 22 January, 1921 until he was placed on the Retired List due to age on 14 March, 1922. Marston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 May, 1926.
