Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. George Washington Thomson, ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Thomson received training in paddle minesweeping at Stephen Furness' from 22 February, 1916. In June, he was appointed to the paddle minesweeper Eridge.[1]
Thomson was promoted to the rank of {{LieutRNR} on 21 September 1916.[2]
He was dismissed from command of the Ascot Class paddle minesweeper Shirley on 1 August 1918 and severely reprimanded following a Court Martial. It is not clear what was the cause of this, but he had been in a collision with H.M.M.D. Abama[?] a month earlier. He was placed in command of a minesweeping trawler.[3]
Thomson was demobilised upon his arrival in India on 8 April, 1919.[4]
