Captain Stanley Venn Ellis, Royal Navy (18 August, 1875 – 31 May, 1916) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Stanley Venn Ellis was the eldest son of the Reverend Henry Venn Ellis, rector of Alderton, Woodbridge, Surrey.[1]
Ellis married Kathleen Emily Beaven on 23 August, 1900 in the Cathedral at Victoria, British Columbia.
He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1909.[2]
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1916.
That same month, he was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Defence, a ship that would end him a half-year later when riven by fire at the Battle of Jutland.
