H.M.S. Kent was one of ten armoured cruisers of the Monmouth Class completed between 1903 and 1904.

There was also a heavy cruiser Kent launched in the 1920s.

Service

Kent returned to Portsmouth on 22 December, 1902 after completing her trials, having made only 21.7 knots despite having a contract speed of 23 knots.[9] She passed into the Fleet Reserve at Portsmouth on 29 July 1902.[10] She was commissioned there by Captain Douglas A. Gamble on 1 August.[11]

She recommissioned at Singapore on 23 December, 1911 under Allen Thomas Hunt, to return immediately to England.[12]

In 1938, her bell was among a number of ships' bells the Royal Navy offered for sale to officers and others interested. It commanded a price of between £3-£10 plus packing and shipping. Interested parties were to apply to win one at its stated price, stating any special attachment or claim they had to the item(s) applied for.[13]
