The central battery ironclad H.M.S. Hercules was completed in 1868 for the Royal Navy.

Construction and Service

In mid-1877, Hercules and Triumph required new boilers to replace their worn-out equipment. As none were available at Portsmouth, new ones were ordered by contract.[6]
