Commander (retired) Robert Constable (4 May, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Constable was promoted to the rank of Mate on 28 August, 1913.[1]
Constable was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 28 April, 1916.[2] He was appointed to the destroyer Phoenix of the First Destroyer Flotilla from 3 May 1916 through her loss on 14 May 1918.[3]
Constable was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the destroyer Exe from 3 August, 1918 to 5 February, 1919.[4]
He commanded M.L. 99 from 7 September 1920 to February, 1921.[5]
He commanded the trawler Foyle from 24 March, 1921 to some time in April (or September?), 1921.[6]
From mid-March 1922 to mid 1927, he was in a variety of commands of groups of emergency destroyers.
Constable was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 28 April, 1924.
He was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on account of age on 4 May 1928.[7]
World War II
During 1939-40, Constable served as Consular Shipping Adviser in Amsterdam.
