Captain (retired) William Ricketts (14 October, 1857 – 6 December, 1921) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Note: there was another William Ricketts who was a Gunner with seniority as a warrant officer of 23 December 1865.
Life & Career
Ricketts was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 February, 1881.[1]
Ricketts was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1894.[2]
Ricketts was appointed in command of the destroyer Ferret on 20 March, 1895.[3] He was cautioned to be more careful after grounding the ship later that year.[4]
Ricketts received an expression of the Admiralty's displeasure after a premature explosion of a charge while saluting on 24 May 1899.[5]
Ricketts was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 24 October, 1903.[6]
