Acting Commander Fitzroy Henry Hall, R.N. (7 February, 1877 – 17 July, 1917) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Kensington.
Hall was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1899.[1]
In October 1908, Rear-Admiral (D) reported that Hall "never does more than he can help & is absolutely wanting in energy." He was removed from command of the destroyer Brazen as a result.[2]
Hall was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1907. He was superseded in command of the torpedo gunboat Jason on 23 Octopber 1909 after a Court of Enquiry into his failure to render the ship's victualling accounts. He had previously elicited displeasure in grounding the ship after failing to verify his course by compass.[3]
Hall was granted the acting rank of Commander on 13 January, 1915.[4]
Hall was appointed in command of the Template:UK-Newmarket on 13 January, 1915 and died when she was torpedoed by UC 38 in the Mediterranean on 17 July 1917.[5]
