Fitzroy Henry Hall

Acting Commander Fitzroy Henry Hall, R.N. (7 February, 1877 – 17 July, 1917) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Kensington.

Hall was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1899.

In October 1908, Rear-Admiral (D) reported that Hall "never does more than he can help & is absolutely wanting in energy." He was removed from command of the destroyer Brazen as a result.

Hall was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1907. He was superseded in command of the torpedo gunboat Jason on 23 Octopber 1909 after a Court of Enquiry into his failure to render the ship's victualling accounts. He had previously elicited displeasure in grounding the ship after failing to verify his course by compass.

Hall was granted the acting rank of Commander on 13 January, 1915.

Hall was appointed in command of the Template:UK-Newmarket on 13 January, 1915 and died when she was torpedoed by UC 38 in the Mediterranean on 17 July 1917.
