Captain David Gilmour, (8 August, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of D. Gilmour, Esq., a Consulting Mechanical Engineer based in Johannesberg.
He was appointed to the battlecruiser Tiger from 3 October 1914 through 1 September, 1916, fighting in her at the Battle of Jutland.[1]
Gilmour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1918.[2]
Gilmour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1926.[3]
Gilmour was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1932.[4]
World War II
Gilmour was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1939.[5]
He was placed on the Retired List on 8 January, 1949.[6]
