Captain Kenneth Lanyon Harkness, D.S.C. (24 August, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Served in Bellerophon from May 1917 through 12 February, 1919 when he was appointed to Revenge. On 15 December 1919 he was admitted to Plymouth Naval Hospital for a fractured left middle finger.
Harkness was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1921. In 1923, he offered suggestions for cross-leveling gear for use in destroyers.
On 27 July 1926 lacerated wound of the left foot.
Harkness was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1929.
Admitted to Haslar Hospital for a concussion on 6 May 1932.
Harkness was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1934.
World War II
Harkness was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1940.
Placed on the Retired List on 8 July, 1949.
