Commander Ian Reddie Hamilton Black, C.B.E. (17 May, 1898 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Commander H. S. Black of the Royal Indian Marine joined the Training Establishment as a Special Entry in September 1916, passing out on 15 March 1917. On 31 March, he was appointed to the battleship Collingwood. He would serve in her through the end of the war, being appointed soon thereafter to the destroyer Thruster on 17 December, 1918.[1]
Black was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[2]
Black was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[3]
Black was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1934.[4]
World War II
Retired on account of age on 17 May, 1948.[5]
