Admiral of the Fleet SIR Rhoderick Robert McGrigor, G.C.B., D.S.C. (12 April, 1893 – 3 December, 1959) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
McGrigor received the Beaufort and Wharton Testimonial for the year 1913.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1914.
He received a first-class certificate in torpedoes in 1918.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1922 shortly after being admitted to Haslar Hospital with bronchial catarrh.
McGrigor was blamed for a collision between Thisbe and Ulster in 1924, as he had left an inexperienced acting Sub-Lieutenant in charge without adequate supervision.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1927.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1933.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 July, 1941.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 April, 1945.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 2 September, 1948.
McGrigor was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet on 1 May, 1953.
