William James Knowles

Lieutenant-Commander (retired) William James Knowles (21 June, 1863 – 14 April, 1939) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Knowles was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 26 December, 1891.

Knowles was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 14 November, 1910.

Knowles was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 22 March, 1914.

Knowles was appointed Lieutenant in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 105 on 12 April, 1914.[1]

Knowles was placed on the Retired List on 24 January, 1919, antedated to 23 June, 1918. He was subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 22 March, 1922.
