U.S.S. Claxton was one of one hundred and eleven Wickes class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.
Service
Claxton was commissioned on 13 September, 1919 with Lieutenant Commander Frank T. Leighton in command.
She was transferred to Britain under the Lend/Lease program as H.M.S. Salisbury.
