Skipjack Class Submarine (1911)

Two Skipjack class submarines[1] were completed for the U.S. Navy in 1911. On 17 November, 1911, they would be redesignated the "E" class and given names E-1 and E-2, not to be confused with submarines of Britain's "E" class of 1912.

In 1916, the two E class boats were based at New London along with the G and the D class boats, tendered by Fulton and Ozark.[2]
