Nelson Ward Hampton Weekes

Commander (retired) Nelson Ward Hampton Weekes, O.B.E. (21 April, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of barrister-at-law Arthur Weekes.

Weekes served in King Edward VII from September 1912 until being appointed to T.B. 32 on 23 April, 1915. On 22 September, he was appointed to the "M" Class destroyer Martial. Sometime later in the year, he transferred to her sister, Minstrel.[1]

Weekes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1916.[2]

Weekes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1924.[3]

World War II

Weekes was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 21 April, 1940.[4]

He reverted to the Retired List on 2 June, 1948.[5]
