John Richard Lay

Captain (retired) John Richard Lay, (14 May, 1864 – 5 January, 1933) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Lay was given the rank of Lieutenant upon joining the service on 31 October, 1895.
Relieved in an appointment surveying Newfoundland due to ill health, Lay was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 14 May, 1909.
Reverted to the Retired List on 15 November 1919.
Lay was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of war services with seniority 11 November, 1918.
