H.M. T.B. 24 was one of 4 first-class torpedo boats of the 113 Footer class.
Construction & Service
Yard No. 667.[5]
Commissioned as tender to Template:UK-2Valorous in June 1886 for flotilla manoeuvres.[6][7]
On 11 September, 1893 as T.B. 24 tried to pick up her mooring in Devonport harbour, she ran into T.B. 54 and holed her aft, causing the compartment abaft the engine room to flood. A rush to prevent 54's foundering succeeded, and a collision mat was placed over the hole as she was secured against the harbour wall. An ash ejector was kept running to keep her afloat until she could be docked.[8]
In 1895, she was one of twenty-three torpedo boats of less than 125 feet in length and thirteen longer ones stationed in Devonport.[9]
