Service
Charles de Burgh was credited with torpedoing an enemy submarine at long range on 23 July, 1917 while in command of G 8. He was awarded a D.S.O. for this, gazetted on 2 November, 1917.[7] There is, however, no known U-boat loss that corresponds to this report.[8]
