Eric Leo MacMahon Shepherd

Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Eric Leo MacMahon Shepherd, R.D. (17 June, 1888 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Shepherd served in the third class protected cruiser Amethyst from January 1915 until July 1918, acting as a boarding officer for at least some of that time. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 2 August, 1915.[1]

Shepherd was appointed in command of the destroyer Mermaid on 17 September, 1918.[2] He was to be demobilised upon his arrival in South America early in 1919.[3]

He was retired at his own request on 26 July 1921, and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 2 August, 1923.[4]

World War II

He served two weeks as a Consular Shipping Adviser at Valparaiso from 29 September 1938 . On 23 August, 1939 he was appointed to the same role in Callao.
