Cradock William Calmady John Nowell

Commander (retired)Cradock William Calmady John Nowell (12 February, 1885 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Nowell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 March, 1906.

Nowell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 March, 1914.

Evaluated as "lazy", but probably owing to health (neurasthenia) in 1917. In August 1917, Commonwealth was grounded, which resulted in a Court of Inquiry which determined that Nowell must be to blame for not sounding often enough.

He received unflattering evaluations in 1926. He was palced on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 31 January, 1937.
