Type A, B and E Depth Charges[1]

The French Anti-Submarine Grenade was an early, small antisubmarine weapon described in the Annual Report of the Torpedo School, 1915, implying that British ships also employed it.[2]

Particulars

35 pounds of G.C. with 18 ounces G.C. primer were set off hydrostatically at 33 feet. It sank at 3.5 feet per second. The danger radius was probably similar to the British depth charges Types A-C, based on charge weight: 10 feet.

The device was in general use in the Mediterranean in early October 1915.
