The 21-in R.N.T.F. Mark III Torpedo was a British torpedo developed at the Royal Navy Torpedo Factory in 1914-1915.[1]

Development and History

The introduction of the type was postponed.[2]

Mark III

They were to feature all the improvements being delivered in the 21-in R.N.T.F. Mark II*** Torpedo with the same length and M.C.H., plus:[3]

  • B.2 generator
  • 400 pounds T.N.T. warhead
  • 11,700 yards at 29 knots under II** conditions, possibly 13,000 yards if injected oil paid off as expected.
