Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Vincent Claude Large, (11 August, 1885 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. I presume that Ernest Harold Large, who also served in the R.N.R., was his older brother.

Life & Career

Large was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. with seniority of 4 December, 1913.[1]

After war broke out, Large was appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Laconia on 4 November, 1914. He remained in the ship until being appointed to Hyacinth on 29 May 1916. In July 1917 he was appointed to Rinaldo.[2]

After a very brief time as 1st Lt., temporary, in Fervent, he was appointed to M.25 for command of the gunboat H.M.S. Cricket from October 1918 to late December.[3]

He was demobilised upon his arrival in South Africa, which occurred on 11 February, 1919.[4]

Large was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 20 July, 1920 and he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 4 December, 1921.[5]
