Captain R.N.R. Selwyn Mitchell Day, D.S.O., C.B., R.D. (1873 – 31 July, 1938) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Day was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 18 October, 1909.[1]

Day was appointed to President as a Convoy Captain on 16 October 1917 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 18 October, 1917.[2]

Day was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. in recognition of his wartime service on 16 March, 1917 for his exploits in action with an enemy raider.[3]

He was demobilised on 24 April, 1919.[4]

In 1915, he was reprimanded by a Court Martial for having negligently or by default stranded King Orry and struck an Acting Lieutenant R.N.R..

Day was placed on the Retired List on 17 March, 1926.[5]

In 1935 he was residing in New South Wales, Australia.
