Paymaster Rear-Admiral was a commissioned rank in the Accountant Branch of the Royal Navy.

On 3 October, 1918, the Paymaster Director-General, Acting Paymaster-in-Chief William M. C. B. Whyte, was given the rank and style of Paymaster Rear-Admiral.[1] This was given legal effect by Order in Council of 8 November.[2] On 20 December, 1919, the post of Paymaster Director-General, with the rank of Paymaster Rear-Admiral was formally sanctioned, with retroactive effect from 6 March, 1918.[3]
