Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Michael John Ahern, O.B.E. (6 May, 1854 – 11 September, 1928) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 12 August, 1879.[1]
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 November, 1899.[2]
Ahern was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1903. In 1905-6, he was appointed to H.M.S. Vivid for Jackal and Traveller.[3]
Ahern was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 6 May 1909 and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1911.[4]
Ahern served in the Great War in Minesweeping on the books of the torpedo training school Vernon, reverting to his pension on 15 November, 1919.
