Admiral SIR Lionel George Preston, K.C.B., Royal Navy (27 September, 1875 – 21 September, 1971) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

He was appointed in command of H.M.S. Windflower on 1 December, 1919.[1]

Preston was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 April, 1930, vice Grace.[2]

On 19 January, 1933 Preston succeeded Air Marshal Sir Robert Brooke-Popham as Commandant, Imperial Defence College.[3] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 28 February, 1934.[4]

Preston was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 16 January, 1935.[5]

Preston died on 21 September, 1971 at Dunstable aged ninety-five.
