Lieutenant Lancelot Alexander Montgomery, R.N. (2 April, 1888 – 1 November, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Lieutenant Colonel R. A. Montgomery, D.S.O., R.M. was born in India. He was granted a special entry to the Navy on the condition that he would not be granted any pension or gratuity attributable to any weakness due to a genital defect for which he'd received an operation.[1]
In mid 1907, he returned from the Australian Station in the first class protected cruiser Diadem.[2]
Montgomery was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 November, 1907.[3]
Montgomery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1909.[4]
After serving as torpedo officer in London and Suffolk, Montgomery was appointed to the armoured cruiser Good Hope as torpedo officer upon transfer of flag on 19 August, 1914. He would die in her when she was lost at the Battle of Coronel.[5]
