Admiral John Elphinstone Erskine, (13 July, 1806 – 23 June, 1887) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 2 January, 1826.[1]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Commander on 24 December, 1829.[2]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Captain on 28 June, 1838. He would command Illustrious, Havannah, Monarch and Orion.[3]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 November, 1857.[4]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 June, 1864.[5]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 10 September, 1869.[6] He retired on 14 July, 1871.[7]
He died at the Albany, Piccadilly.
