Captain (retired) Henley Dale Nichol, (29 April, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Major W. [illeg] Nichol gained twelve months time on passing out of the Training Establishment on 15 September, 1911.[1]

Nichol was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 July, 1914. During the war, he would serve in the armoured cruiser Euryalus and the sloop Espiegle.[2]

Nichol was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1915.[3]

Nichol was awarded the Ogilvy Medal for the year 1920 for placing first in examinations to qualify as Lieutenant (T).[4]

Nichol was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1923.[5]

Nichol was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.[6]

World War II

Nichol was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 29 April, 1944.[7]
