Originally built for Chile as Libertad, she was purchased along with sister Swiftsure on 3 December, 1903.[2] As a consequence, she did not resemble contemporary British ships.

Service

Triumph served in China until 1915 and then moved to the Mediterranean.[3]

Loss

Triumph was torpedoed through her deployed anti-torpedo netting.[4]

Alterations

In 1913 it was approved that Triumph receive a Mark III Dumaresq, Pattern 760. Having been supplied with the Mark III variant, she was to surrender a Mark I instrument.[5]
