H.M.S. Triumph (1903)
Pendant Number: no data[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Ordered: Purchased 3 Dec, 1903[3]
Laid down: 26 Feb, 1902[4]
Launched: 15 Jan, 1903[5]
Commissioned: Jun, 1904[6]
Torpedoed: 25 May, 1915[7]
Fate: by U.21, Dardanelles

Originally built for Chile as Libertad, she was purchased along with sister Swiftsure on 3 December, 1903.[8] As a consequence, she did not resemble contemporary British ships.

Triumph served in China until 1915 and then moved to the Mediterranean.[9]

Loss

Triumph was torpedoed through her deployed anti-torpedo netting.[10]

Alterations

In 1913 it was approved that Triumph receive a Mark III Dumaresq, Pattern 760. Having been supplied with the Mark III variant, she was to surrender a Mark I instrument.[11]
