H.M.S. Bramble was one of four gunboats of the Bramble class completed for the Royal Navy about the turn of the century.

There was an earlier gunboat named Bramble.

Service

On 1 Oct 1898 HMS BRAMBLE WAS RENAMED HMS COCKATRICE Template:NLOCT98 P. 238 REF. 113

On 10 OCT 1898 was ordered to the Mediterrean Station for service on the Danube River

From at least early 1908[3] to at least 1913, she was serving on the China Station.[4]
