Francis Hugh Walter Goolden
Rear-Admiral Francis Hugh Walter Goolden, C.B., R.N. (22 August, 1885 – 13 June, 1950) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Sandown on the Isle of Wight.
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1907.
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1915.
Post-War
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1918.
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Acting Captain on 22 May, 1926.
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1926.
Goolden was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 29 May, 1937 and placed on the Retired List the following day.
World War II
Goolden served in command of Royal Navy Training Establishment, Shotley and then as Flag Officer in Command, Harwich twice, serving as Chief of Staff to the man in that position in the interim.
he died of pancreatic cancer on 13 June, 1950.
