Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Brian Richmond Brasier-Creagh, (12 September, 1899 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

He served in the battlecruiser Inflexible as a Midshipman from 8 September 1915 to January, 1918, seeing action at the Battle of Jutland.[1]

Brasier-Creagh was granted the acting rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 November, 1917. Captain Thesiger described him as "backward for his years but is imporving."[2]

Brasier-Creagh was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 May, 1918.[3]

Brasier-Creagh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[4]

In 1922, he was described as "young for his age" and "slow" by Captain Lionel Fitzgerald Maitland-Kirwan of the light cruiser Cardiff. Despite this, in September 1923 he was permitted to study at Oxford under his own arrangement while unemployed on half-pay.[5]

Brasier-Creagh was retired owing to non-service on 24 March, 1926 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on the Retired List on 15 May, 1928.[6]

In early 1933, he travelled to Switzerland.[7]

World War II

He was appointed to the aircraft carrier Argus on 23 October 1939.[8]
