Großadmiral Anton Haus (13 June 1851 - 8 February 1917) was an officer of the Kaiserliche und Königliche Kriegsmarine.

Life & Career

Poor son of a landlord, went to high school in Laibach.

In 1869, was a Seekadett. Promoted to Linienschiffsleutnant in 1882.

1886-90 oceanography instructor at the k.u.k. Marineakadamie in Fiume.

1890-92, circumnavigated the globe in SMS Saida.

1894 promoted to Korvettenkapitän.

1897 promoted to Fregattenkapitän and spent two years as Commandant of the torpedo school SMS Alpha.

1899 commanded SMS Donau at sea.

1901 commanded Maria Theresia during the Boxer Rebellion.

1902-05 on Navy Board

1905 promoted to Konteradmiral and made commandant of the reserve fleet.

1906 Commander of 2 Division

May-October 1907 delegate to the 2nd Peace Conference in The Hague and until 1908 Admiral commanding Pola Navy Yard.

1908-10 Fleet commander

1910 Promoted to Vizeadmiral, head of Marine Technical Committee

1912 Made fleet inspector.
